Staying out of the dentist or doctors office has been a serious motivating force in my life right now because of the pandemic. I take my vitamins and floss my teeth way more than I ever did, I guess that's one good outcome.Â
Â
On that note, I decided to participate as a foraging educator at the Eat Healthy Summit this year. It's free and I encourage y'all to check it out if you're like me and want to come out of this craziness a better feeling person:) The summit is an online educational event covering all things food; foraging, nutrition, disease prevention, immune health. Â The speakers are really diverse; doctors,
nutritionists, chefs, personal trainers, dietitians as well as professionals who coach on topics ranging from special dietary needs, plant based eating, hormonal balancing, intermittent fasting, developing healthy habits, being lean and energetic and boosting the immune system. It's free, so check it out.

UPDATE: We have 3 online foraging trips and our outside trips are open now as well. Details below...
FORAGING EDUCATION
When I get sad, frustrated or pent up... like... um, now, I have a secret swimming hole that I make a pilgrimage to. But if exercise and nature doesn't do the trick then I could go searching for an ancient medicinal wild plant, St.John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum). This wild weed has a long history of human use; in the middle ages
it was prescribed as a protective herb and made into magic potions. Nowadays, it's used to treat mild depression and menopause, actually similar uses if you think about it.  The yellow flowers and tiny holes that show through when you hold the leaf up to the sun helps identify it. And even if I don't find it, wandering around outside on a plant treasure hunt always makes me smile.
