Start looking in slightly higher elevations first!
Mushrooms like it where it's cool and damp, so I'm finding more fungi popping up above sea level right now despite the hot weather. The first few serious rains should kick start the season for many edible
mushrooms including the Pacific golden chanterelle (Cantharellus formosus) which can be found in Douglas-fir forests around BC and WA. Check the video below for a primer on how and where to look for these golden delicacies.
