8 Courses at the Swallow Tail secret Supper Club. Swallow Tail dinners are long table style where you are invited to the chefs home kitchen to dine in Mount Pleasant, so everyone is welcome. Chefs Chelseah Compton & Bruno Feldeisen, our favourite French judge from TV's 'The Great Canadian Bake Off', are creating a fall inspired eight course dinner at Swallow Tail. Chef Chelseah will be cooking with some of her hand harvested ingredients from her time cheffin up in Alaska this summer.   OCT 21 - 6:30pm

MEDICINAL & EDIBLE PLANT CLASS with Lori Snyder  

Lori is a Metis aboriginal herbalist and one of my favourite teachers, she definitely helped guide me along my journey with wild edible plants and I’d love for more people to be introduced to her message and huge breadth of knowledge.  

Class Details: Oct 7 at 10-11:45am in Jericho Park

This foray will focus on how to safely identify wild medicinal and edible plants and how to make them into beautiful herbal medicines and food. Join us for a walk covering edible medicinal plants both native and invasive. Learn how to identify, care for and prepare these powerful plants into simple medicines like tinctures, tisanes and balms. She'll cover which parts of each plant to use for healing and which to leave for the bees. 

What mushrooms am I seeing pop up this week? 

Mushrooms like this edible comb tooth, chicken of the woods and porcini are poking their glorious heads out of stump, root and soil this week.  Comb tooth or bears head are species of the Hericium genus and are one of my favourite spacy mushrooms to find in the forest growing on dead stumps and logs.  They're relatively easy to identify, if you want to learn more about wild edible mushrooms come out for a mushroom class with us on the North shore, Whistler or Maple Ridge this fall (Sept-Nov).
