Wild berries be jammin' this year!🙈 Our local blackberries are so concentrated that they tasted like jam on the vine when I picked some on Galiano Island last week.  

How many of these wild berries have you tried before?

1. Black huckleberries - A sweet, smoky, blueberry type flavour, find the growing with wild blueberries.
2. Wild Blueberries - Ripening as we speak on the north shore mountains
3. Thimbleberries (pic) - the best berry in the world in my opinion, like a raspberry on steroids, find these perfectly ripe higher in elevation (for example in the Okanagan right now or at the Cold Water area off the Coquihalla).
4. Blackberries - everywhere!
5. Salal berries - sweet when picked in full sun facing bushes, great as sauces for meat like pork or venison
6. Oregon grape berries - tart, add sugar to make a delicious pomegranate-esque drink or sorbet

Avoid picking twin berries (black), snowberries (white) and baneberries (red, pic below).
