Forager's Report
What the heck is a Slippery jack? It's a prolific edible mushroom that pop up early in the fall season (they're having a late start this year with our lack of rain). You'll spot them in urban areas and the forest, notice the spongy honeycombed surface on the underside of the cap to help you with ID. There are lots of different
species of Suillus (latin name), all of them edible and they usually are quite plentiful, a good one for beginners to get to know!
Come out with us for a mushroom field trip to get familiar with our local edible mushrooms this fall, Sat/Sun weekends from now till December.
