What can you catch in BC oceans without a boat?

TONS! Surf smelt, seaweed, salmon, flounder, sole, sculpin,  herring, crab,  sea urchins, sea cucumbers, squid, clams, geoduck, scallops, whelk, oysters, mussels, gooseneck barnacles. 


Fishing & Dinner on the beach anyone?

Share a sunset evening fishing for surf smelt and learning how to safely survive off the BC coast with Ficus Chan, biologist/commercial fisherman.  Bring all your questions about how to harvest from the seashore.  We'll put in our nets to see what we catch right off the beach, guests can have a hand at catching smelt in the surf.  Chef Robin Kort will prepare the catch and talk about how best to cook and eat the bounty of our sea.

Includes dinner on the beach, gillnetting demonstration, surf netting, lecture on sea foraging from seaweed to horse clams.

BYO Beach blanket or lawn chairs and bathing suits/shorts you don't mind getting wet if you want to practice netting fish in the surf.
