Deadly mushrooms in your backyard or neighbourhood park and what to do if you find one.

The recent fatality in Victoria of a person who ate a death cap mushroom has gotten everyone talking.  So, I wanted to lay out some basics on what to do if you think you found one.  First tip is that death caps are perfectly safe to handle, just don't eat them!  They are also a very distinctive looking white, gilled mushroom and they don't grow in the forest.  They are found in urban areas near hardwood trees.  If you are sure you found some, then the Pacific Forestry Center advises putting them in a plastic bag and throwing them out.
