Hi , Why don't Vancouverites eat more seafood? We live by the sea in Vancouver, so why is it not the main part of our diet instead of burgers and fries? Look at Japan or Nova
Scotia even, they all have much less meat in their diet and much more seafood, because they are right next to the plentiful, tasty food that comes from the ocean. I love to teach people more about the amazing, salty, savoury and super healthy foods that you can harvest yourself, simply by walking down to the seashore. One of those superfoods, packed with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and fiber is seaweed, we have tons of it. Sea lettuce (Ulva lactuca) is one of my favourites, bright green with a clean flavour and a slightly crunchy texture. I like adding it to risotto or as a salty topping on any fish with a bit of lemon. Here's the full video on me foraging for it last week on Galiano Island. If you want to chat more with me about sea foraging, come to our dinner May 25th where can teach you more about what you can safely harvest from the sea without a boat. Tickets to fished & foraged below... FORAGED & FISHED Friday, May 25 at 7pm A
six course secret supper and discussion about sea foraging by wildcraft guide, Robin Kort. Our favourite pescatarian chef, Natasha Sawyer (Burdock & co.) is our chef for the evening creating a seafood & foraged spring edibles themed dinner at the Swallow Tail secret Supper Club. Robin will give a short talk over a delicious dinner on how to forage for seaweed, urchin and anything else hand harvestable from the Pacific Ocean. This should be really fun with a
group of food loving folks at the long table in the garden, come one come all. We'll seat everyone out in the garden (weather permitting) under the magnolia tree.
